Our Montreal Trip January 2009

Maritimes lobster with trumpet mushrooms. Dill ultra-thin flat bread.

Dinner at the Beaver Club in the Queen Elizabeth Fairmont was a luxury experience.

They presented us with a delicious cake, complete with signage announcing our joint celebration -- Walt & my 34th wedding anniversary, and Courtney's 18th birthday.

Local foie gras.

Scallops on the half shell, three ways. We loved the one with fresh truffles, and the one with an Asian preparation.

Amuse was lobster with salmon caviar, and foie gras 'brulee' This foie gras was Courtney's favorite food in a food-lover's weekend in Canada.

Locally raised piglet, done two ways.

Local 'egg' with fruit. This was a rich creme brulee, presented in the egg shell with a burnt sugar topping, all served in a langue du chat basket.

Courtney was pretty happy, especially when we let her open one of her birthday gifts during dinner -- a brand new Santa Cruz Banana Slugs sweatshirt, since she totally wore out the one we got in Santa Cruz a few years ago.
